Business Solicitors Well Practiced in EU Law
At Barker Gotelee our team of business solicitors are well regarded for their knowledge and understanding of EU legislation and policies and how the Brussels systems work. What makes us different is our unique access to the EU policymakers in Brussels which enables us to provide clear views on existing and emerging policies and legislation and possible changes to them. This relationship is built on many years of solving clients’ problems, particularly those arising as a result of dealings with the Government of an EU Member State. The problem can involve legislation or policy, and often both.
Our access to Brussels frequently avoids court proceedings. Problem-solving involves a detailed examination of existing or emerging EU policies, which may then open up new markets and business opportunities for our clients. Clients are able to steer, shape or structure their businesses accordingly.
Our team of business solicitors have developed the relationship with the EC Commission over many years. One of our team members is a member of Team Europe (an EU Commission appointment) and in that capacity speaks nationally on EU policy. We act for commercial enterprises – both agricultural and non-agricultural – nationally, whose interests are or are likely to be affected by EU legislation and policy.
The ability to access the Brussels institutions very often results in the resolution of commercial problems and concerns. Where appropriate, it is sometimes possible for our business solicitors to obtain EC Commission approval to a commercial arrangement which can be a significant advantage in any discussions with a Member State Government.
We provide legal advice to First in Brussels Limited (FIB) which advises commercial businesses and undertakings, agricultural businesses and statutory bodies, such as the Welsh Assembly and the Agricultural and Horticulture Development Board on issues concerning EU policy. FIB is chaired by a member of our business solicitors team.
If you are based in Suffolk or East Anglia and feel that your commercial interests may be affected by EU legislation or policy, contact our team, based in Martlesham Heath, Ipswich.
