For many years we have been known nationally for the legal services which we provide to the agricultural community. We deal with agricultural property transactions and advise on how to preserve family assets. We are well-regarded for our grasp of agricultural and taxation law and our knowledge of EU legislation and policies.
The agricultural team has close working links with the EU Commission in Brussels and has detailed working knowledge of CAP. With membership of Team Europe (an EU Commission appointment) we speak nationally to farmers and at specialist agricultural gatherings. This unique relationship is particularly valuable when we advise clients on aspects of CAP and EU policy. It enables us to provide clear views on existing and emerging policies and legislation and possible changes to them.
We provide a broad range of services to our clients, including:
- Advice on old style agricultural tenancies
- Succession claims
- Notices to quit
- Associated tax planning arrangements
- Family partnership disputes
- Diversification projects, including renewable energy schemes and sales of land for development
We enjoy long-standing relationships with many of our clients. Team-members act as trustees for clients and are closely involved with the ambitions and objectives of the family. Nevertheless, our knowledge and experience is regularly called upon by clients who are seeking advice on a one-off basis.
