Business Solicitors Ipswich – Samsung wins US trade panel ruling against Apple

‘The International Trade Commission (ITC) has ruled that Apple infringed a Samsung Patent. The ITC decided that the provision of 3G mobile data links in the iPhone 4, released in 2010, and 3G-capable iPad 2, infringed a US patent. This could mean that the iPhone4 and 3G capable iPad2 are banned from sale in the US.

It is understood that Apple plan to appeal the decision. It could also be reversed by Barack Obama within 60 days, although it is rare for a US President to overturn a decision of this nature. During the 60 day review period Apple are able to sell the affected products.

This case is one of many between the two electronic giants, who are supposedly locked in legal battles in 10 different countries.’
