Dealing with mental health issues during divorce

In a recent interview with GQ magazine, Brad Pitt described how he sought therapy during his divorce from Angelina Jolie. His brave decision to be up front about his mental health follows on from their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s and Prince Harry’s campaign to bring mental health matters to the forefront through their Heads Together campaign. Heads Together is a partnership with charities that provide mental health support, also heightening awareness and confronting stigma.

A significant portion of people going through the divorce process suffer depression and anxiety as a result of their situation. It can be difficult to make good decisions during the divorce process whilst a mind is clouded with sadness and worry and clients who access effective therapy through properly trained counsellors tend to have better outcomes.

Barker Gotelee’s family lawyers can recognise when clients are suffering emotionally and are able to recommend suitable counsellors to their clients so that they are able to move forward more positively in their new lives both during and after the divorce process.
