Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition. Sharon Harkin from the East of England Co-op conducted the training which was attended by both solicitors and secretaries from the private client team at Barker Gotelee. Through a series of group activities and real life examples, Sharon was able to offer an insight into dementia and the challenges faced by those experiencing it, as well as offering advice and practical steps showing how to offer the very best care and service to those affected.
The Alzheimers Society says:
“Whether you attend a face-to-face Information Session or watch the online video, Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.”
