Divorce Solicitor Suffolk – Children and Families Bill passes into law
The Children and Families Bill received Royal Assent on 13th March 2014. The bill covers changes to adoption and fostering, special educational needs, childcare, shared parental leave and flexible working. It also reforms the family justice system to help deliver better outcomes for children and families who find themselves involved in court proceedings relating to separation or where a child is to be taken into care. The clear message will be that the court will start from the presumption that both parents should be involved in their children’s lives, assuming that is safe and meets the child’s welfare needs. New ‘Child Arrangement Orders’ will focus parents on the needs of the child rather than the rights of the parent. A meeting with a mediator to find out about mediation will become compulsory.
