Employment law update

A number of significant changes to employment law came into force in April 2016. The introduction of the National Living Wage is of particular interest. Employers should also note that there are increases in employment tribunal compensation limits and financial penalties for failing to pay tribunal awards and settlements.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has published guidance about how to avoid unlawful discrimination in job adverts. If you would like a checklist setting out some of the important legal issues that an employer should consider when hiring an employee, please contact Dermott Thomas or Clare Richards.

For more information about these changes, or for any other queries about employment law in general, please contact Dermott Thomas.
