Family Solicitors Suffolk – Gay marriage vote

‘MPs have voted on gay marriage which will enable couples of the same gender to marry in both civil and religious ceremonies (the latter where a religious institution formally consents) in England and Wales. Couples who have already had civil partnerships will be allowed to convert to marriage.  The dissolution of civil partnerships is much the same as divorce in marriages, save that the provisions regarding adultery and non-consummation do not apply. This is expected to continue and be extended to same-gender marriages.’

Nicola Furmston is a family law solicitor at Barker Gotelee, solicitors in Suffolk.
