New probate process

In a change to its probate process, on Monday 18 May, the Probate Registry stopped accepting Statements of Truth. Instead these one page documents have been replaced with a 23 page form which is arguably more complicated than the Statements of Truth and requires additional information not previously required.

The forms have been designed with a view to digitising information, allowing for bulk scanning and making information easy to insert into electronic systems to reduce the numbers of errors and speed up the probate process. As with all new processes, this is likely to be a learning experience both for the Probate Registry and those applying and the industry expectation is that the forms will continue to evolve and adapt.
