Family Solicitors Suffolk – New research on divorce statistics by The Marriage Foundation

‘The Marriage Foundation, an organisation which promotes marriage and healthy stable relationships, has published its research on the UK divorce rate over the last 4 decades. Harry Benson, who is the Marriage Foundation’s communications director, has been exploring the facts about divorce in the UK and trying to expose modern day myths about divorce. One of the more interesting findings from Mr Benson’s research is that the divorce rate for couples after they have been married for 10 years or more has not changed since the 1960s.  There is also evidence that the likelihood of a marriage ending in divorce has shrunk with each decade, with only 1 in 5 couples divorcing after 10 years of marriage. Mr Benson presented details of the Marriage Foundation’s new research at the launch of National Marriage Week at the House of Commons on 7th February.’
