Voices in the middle
The lost voices in a divorce are frequently those of the children who are caught in the middle. Some children experience outright warfare. Some experience kind and caring parents who work together to separate calmly. Regardless, divorce and separation is a time of great upheaval for children of all ages.
Voices in the Middle provides support online for children of separating parents. Young people have posted their stories for others to see, hopefully leading to a sense of shared experience and comfort. The website gives information about help and support available to children throughout the process of divorce or separation. The charity campaigns for changes in the law and during 2016 has campaigned to uphold the right of the child to be listened to when decisions are being taken that concern him or her, in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989, Article 12.
